The legal system in the UK is filled with barriers
The legal system in the UK is filled with barriers that make it nearly impossible for most people to manage their legal situations.
Most people aren’t aware of what legal rights they have, what to do when they have a legal problem, or how to find a lawyer for help.
This crisis disproportionately affects the neurodiverse community, who often struggle with trying to navigate the complexities within the legal system due to a lack of clear instruction or information available - resulting in only 6% of neurodiverse people seeking legal advice.
That’s why I’m proud to partner with @LawAdvisor’s #BreaktheLaw campaign, to raise awareness and dismantle those barriers. Click the link in my bio to learn more and join the movement!

    This device will be used for the ones that have sever autism not everyone is the same. Image you can’t differentiate danger and you are non verbal and this will improve you life. And everyone forget that this is a choice and will don’t be mandatory. Probably will not be accessible for everyone as will not be cheap.

    ADHD and ASD May Have Overlapping Symptoms, but They Still 2 Different Disorders. Saying ADHD and ASD are the Same thing just Because They have Overlapping Symptoms is a Dumb as Saying "Stress and Anxiety" is the Same thing just because They have Similar Symptoms.

    I am on the spectrum as in i have ADHD (and I'm sure there is something else, but i dont know what) Im actually here because my middle child, 4 year old Everest, she has a lot of autism signs... She is also very different from my two other children, and i feel ashamed to say it, but i have actually thought she was autistic since she was just a baby. Now we are at the point where we are trying to diagnose her with her kindergarten, we haven't started yet, but we have started, if that makes sense.

    Do they definitely still diagnose ADHD and Autism together in Wales, I know in the cases I know of (including my grandson), they insisted on diagnosing them seperately. Like you, my youngest daughter was diagnosed with both over 20 years ago, at the same time. I feel so called out btw, I can't sit and watch tv without having something to do with my hands, I knit and crochet, it's a need rather than a want as it helps me to focus on what I'm watching. With my dad it was foot-tapping, both my brothers do this weird swaying about, it's hilarious. :)

    I think this is nice for her but I live in Japan too, I've been here for 6 years and sadly I have heard from Japanese psychologists here that autism is still stigmatised in Japan. Although, it is a beautiful country, with a lovely culture and the people are mostly friendly, but it still has a long way to go to recognise and support neurodivergent people.

    • @user-cf3vr8yt8j
      @user-cf3vr8yt8j 2 години тому

      Yes, been here for 6 years too and even though I have no first-hand experience and have had no interaction with the health care system regarding neurodiversity, I can sense the general lack of understanding, even in people who are very open and kind towards differences and mental health issues. Japan seems to be a good 15 years behind and there's a possibility it will never actually catch up due to how society is structured.

    Well, I don’t know about that, but I think this just how inertia and rumination play off of each other. You’re having the inertia, which is just a huge part of both the autistic and ADHD experience (maybe for different reasons), and then you feel guilt or like you’re unprepared because you ‘wasted’ too much time (could be due to masking, could be due to feeling like you’re not meeting responsibilities), and rumination leads to lots of trouble staying asleep if you even manage to get there in the first place. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find out dopamine plays a part in this cycle.

    I feel like the anxiety examples (not so much anxiety itself-- that's totally there) don't really resonate closely. Not just with me, but a number of fellow ASD's. Things like brushing teeth, what to eat, etc... those are simple by comparison. Remembering that many ASD's are very routine based, those things tend to be the easier aspect of life. Even what to wear... if you already have a set routine for what you like to wear, it's all good. It's breaking those routines, and having to go out and hope your mask holds-- that's anxiety to me. It's facing the outside random events and people I have no control over. I was so consistent in terms of my lunch (when I go out), that I could pull up in the drive-thru and say "the usual," and they'd just know. I was even getting the senior discount (in my 30's) just because I was such a regular. So yeah... not something I'd call anxiety inducing. Kinda taking the same stance with executive function. Those examples feel more like a coordination thing, which, oddly enough, isn't one of my issues. In fact part of my sensitivity makes me very aware of balance, weight, space-- it heightens those abilities for me. Will the be for everyone? No. But I feel like with the balance (and hearing), I loose out on things like smell and eye sight. My nose doesn't pick up many things as much as others might, except for certain things. Back to executive functions, though... making choices, indecision, overthinking (and thus all adding to anxiety)-- those are my take on executive function. And that's where routines also come to play. By making some decisions easy-- having nine pairs of the same shirt, two pairs each of similar denim jeans (but maybe a slightly different color or fitment), three pairs of the same shoes but again in different colors-- that makes it easy. Quick grab, easy control. I wore maroon yesterday, I'll wear black today. My jeans had a black tag yesterday, I'll grab one with a tan tag today. Make my lunch the same way, packed the same way, maybe change the drink every day. However, choosing which side I want my part on... that can be a hold-up.

It is little things like this that are causing me to realise I could also be on the spectrum as I can see it too.. It gives me awful headache and makes me feel sick.. If it's really bad it causes my mood to completely change and I become very irritable.. Noises too.. I can hear electric.. Especially when devices are charging.. I can't be in the same room..

    Family of ADHDers here... both me and my daughter have some stimming that don´t fit those. For example, i scratch my scalp a lot without realizing, to the point i get problems even if i'm not in a psoriasis flair up. My daughter does beatboxt and other vocal stimming often too, also in situations that are not stress or need to focus, just something that is on repeat mode and we can´t shut down. Like other ADHD traits, lack of sleep and stress do increase the intensity and frequency, but they are always there, no matter the occasion and aren´t specific to excess of energy or help to concentrate. And it´s not the only trait that overlaps ASD, i think the main trait that differentiates us is the social awareness and social pattern recognition, where we tend to be really great at. P.s this is our individual perception of course, i'm not saying it's wrong or right, above all i think doctors still don't get us correctly and that is why a lot of us are late diagnosed.

    I think the whole framing of Japan being good for autists is highly idealized and misguided. Look at the specific situation here: This is a woman that has figured out her work stuff (bringing her work to Japan). She just lives there, seemingly not interacting much with people. Obviously she doesn't speak even basic Japanese (she doesn't even know that Japanese say "jama shimasu" when they enter a home). If your stuff is already figured out and you live disconnected from the actual life in the country, how will you encounter the problems native autists face? Japan is extreme when it comes to "social cues". Nothing important is ever spelled out - reading the room is *the* most defining aspect of being Japanese. (Foreigners are just expected not to get this, so they are treated differently.) Furthermore, company life is super streamlined, with a lot of pressure. There's almost no room or acceptance for failure. (Foreigners usually don't even get in, they are mostly limited to jobs like English lessons etc.) There's a good report about autism in Japan, where actual Japanese autists talk about their experiences. It paints a *very* different picture. Everyone watching this should go there next and take a look.

    • @user-cf3vr8yt8j
      @user-cf3vr8yt8j День тому

      Yes, I second this. See my comment above (below...?). BUT when you are in a situation where you you can establish a somewhat disconnected, or semi-connected corner of life in Japan the observations that life can be much less stressful in Japan are equally valid. After not having left Japan for about five years now due to the pandemic and the price explosion for air tickets, I now almost dread going to Europe or elsewhere, facing all that roughness that is not present in Japan. And being "the foreigner", you actually have more freedom here to unmask and be yourself, if that's what you aim to do. The sacrifices are being less connected and perhaps feeling isolated and lonely, have less or no access to official support if in need.

    • @user-nm3ug3zq1y
      @user-nm3ug3zq1y 22 години тому

      @@user-cf3vr8yt8j, my question would be then for how many autists this would realistically even be relevant. Even for neurotypicals it can be hard to find and hold down a job. Most people in general have to basically pick what they get and structure their life around it, which includes the place where they live. For autists, it can be still so much harder. Just look at the unemployment rates alone. Yeah, well, so if you're in such a privileged position personally that you don't have to worry about any of this, you don't even have to interact with the general population, and you have the resources to pick your place of living freely, you might as well pick Japan. If you actually have to work together with other people to a degree, however, you might be better off choosing a louder people, that as an upside is more blunt, so that you have a chance of actually getting what they want.

  • @user-cf3vr8yt8j
    @user-cf3vr8yt8j День тому

    Oh, interesting! First time I noticesd this YT channel and first time I heard about Bianca too. Interesting discussion as I'm an AuDHD foreigner living in Japan too. I second many observations although from my perspective the autism-friendliness is mostly on y surface level only, there is still a large gap to bridge in deeper understanding and acceptance of autism in Japan. Luckily I don't (currently) have any support needs and don't need to fit into any larger organisations, work wise or other so I can just do my thing without having to conform that much. I think for Japanese it must be a lot harder due to the immense pressure to fit into the mould and do as expected.
